Motorola Inc. has entered into an agreement to license Microsoft’s ActiveSync protocol, providing direct Wireless mobile access to Microsoft Exchange Server 2003.
“This new facet of the relationship between our companies combines Motorola´s highly successful mass-market mobile devices with the established leadership of Exchange Server within the corporate e-mail server market.” said Ed Zylka, general manager, Motorola´s Enterprise Solutions Group.
The agreement enables Motorola´s MotoSync technology-enabled mobile phones to give enterprise customers direct seamless access to corporate e-mail from their devices and eliminating the need for middleware.
“The combination of MotoSync-enabled mobile phones and Exchange Server 2003 can significantly enhance end-user productivity by providing a direct, easily implemented wireless e-mail while simultaneously lowering IT costs by eliminating the need for middleware.” said Kim Akers, senior director at Microsoft.
MotoSync is a secure synchronization protocol that is designed to provide always-up-to-date wireless e-mail and information on Motorola mobile phones.
