SurfControl (LSE: SRF), the global leader in Internet protection, today announced that Trade Service Information Ltd has deployed SurfControl RiskFilter in order to improve IT management and protect staff, intellectual property and key business databases.

Trade Service Information (TSI) is a leading data warehousing company, working with the UK electrical and mechanical engineering industry to provide data feeds of product and pricing information for contractors and suppliers under the “Luckins” brand name.

With quality and integrity of data of paramount importance to business operations, TSI needed a content filtering solution which would provide fast, accurate and comprehensive protection from inbound email threats.

TSI evaluated a number of options, opting for SurfControl´s RiskFilter – a dedicated, hardened Linux-based solution which would automatically block spam, viruses, phishing and other forms of malware, protecting the network and the sensitive information contained on it.

SurfControl´s RiskFilter eliminates 100% of spam before it gets onto the company network, ensuring the server runs efficiently, and that the data contained on it is protected from external threats.

RiskFilter also generates statistical reports on the threats to the network, giving IT staff at TSI a clearer overview of IT security and enabling them to manage the IT infrastructure more effectively for optimum network performance. Automatic blocking of spam and regular security updates ensure the network is protected against the very latest threats.

Kevin Gutteridge, Technical Services Manager at TSI explained, “The excessive volume of spam entering the organisation was a significant burden, and meant three to four hours downtime every few weeks in order to manually remove the rogue emails.

The overall risk of infection has been reduced dramatically, ensuring all business assets – from employees to internal databases and intellectual property – are protected and that we have maintained its reputation for integrity and high quality.”
