SteelEye announced that it has added monitoring and recovery capability for IBM Director 5.1 to the long list of application environments which it supports. The LifeKeeper Protection Suite for IBM Director 5.1 provides all of the components needed to build a cluster of servers running IBM Director to protect against unplanned outages and to perform manual switchover which eliminates downtime due to planned maintenance.
The suite includes monitoring and recovery of IBM Director processes, the operating system, the server hardware and the built-in Derby database. Users can deploy configurations using either shared or replicated data depending on specific needs. This initial release supports Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 platforms.
“IBM and SteelEye have collaborated to deliver protection for business-critical functions to our joint customers,” said Connie Blauwkamp, director of infrastructure solutions, IBM xSeries. “With the central role that IBM Director plays in management of the most critical IT assets today, it is important that protection against outage be part of every Director deployment. We are pleased that SteelEye has chosen to bring the power of LifeKeeper to IBM Director 5.1.”
“IBM Director is a widely deployed, integrated suite of software tools that provides a consistent, single point of management and automation for complex IT environments. We made the decision to provide the Protection Suite for free with the expectation that users will appreciate the value that LifeKeeper can bring to other applications in their environment and will adopt it for other uses,” said Bob Williamson, Vice President, Products for SteelEye.
SteelEye is making the LifeKeeper Protection Suite for IBM Director 5.1 immediately available for free download from its website.
