According to a recently published report by Synergy Research Group, the worldwide Network Security market remained flat compared to Q1 2006 and was up six percent year-over-year. Synergy Research Group (SRG) segments the total Network Security market to include Hybrid Security Solutions, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems, and SSL VPNs.
Furthermore, SRG segments the Hybrid market into Low-End, High-End, and Next Generation Appliances, and Software Solutions.
Hybrid Solution sales were down one percent sequentially and were up three percent year-over-year. Furthermore, IDS/IPS sales increased four percent for the quarter and grew 16 percent compared to Q2 2005; in addition, SSL VPN sales were up five percent in the quarter and were up over 29 percent year-over-year.
Notable vendors gaining market share for the quarter included Citrix, Fortinet, Juniper, Nokia, and SonicWall.
