Microsoft Acquires Identity Management Company

Microsoft on Monday announced the acquisition of the identity management company Alacris. The move enhances the company’s strategy of providing easily identity and access management solutions.

According to Microsoft, their customers say that smart cards are increasingly becoming a crucial part of their authentication and authorization strategy.

“Customers have told us that smart cards are becoming an increasingly important part of their authentication and authorization strategy,” Mike Nash, corporate vice president of the Security Technology Unit at Microsoft said.

“We are thrilled that our technology will become part of Microsoft´s security product offerings and that it will be delivered to a larger group of customers,” said Ron Mac Donell, President and Chief Executive Officer, Alacris.

Microsoft plans to offer its new identity management technologies for beta in later date.
