PatchLink Corporation, the leading security patch and vulnerability management solutions provider, has announced that IDC, a leading provider of global IT research and advice, has ranked it the number one ‘Patching and Remediation Vendor’ with a 14.6 percent of the global market share.
According to IDC report: “Worldwide Security and Vulnerability Management software market forecast and Analysis, 2005-2009: Taking Control of the Security Environment” (December 2005, Vol. 1), the security and vulnerability management (SVM) software market as a whole is expected to grow by 17.8 percent annually, exceeding $3 billion by 2009. Furthermore, with close to 60 named vendors the market remains large and competitive. The report states that the patch management sector is expected to grow by 26 percent annually by 2009.
Patching and remediation solutions automate or semi-automate the process of installing patches or correcting system mis-configurations across the enterprise immediately or on a scheduled basis. PatchLink has the world’s largest patch repository and its core product PatchLink Update™ 6.2 offers fully Internet-based vulnerability remediation security management software for all major operating systems, including Microsoft, AIX, HP-UX, Solaris, Linux, Novell NetWare, and MacOS X.
Charles Kolodgy, IDC Research Director, stated: “The growing reliance on IT to provide a solution to help reduce risk in line with compliance requirements and within budgetary and staffing constraints has led organisations to look for security tools that allow them to cost effectively manage their security infrastructure. PatchLink strives to provide its customers with an extremely accurate, highly-efficient and flexible security remediation tool that can be deployed according to company specific policies to minimise the time spent on managing security risks.”
“We are honoured to be recognised by IDC as the leader in the markets we serve as our solutions enable customers to proactively secure their networks by combining best-in-class security patch and vulnerability management software,” said PatchLink’s President Greg Head. “We will continue to grow our market presence by further expanding our global capabilities, strengthening our value-added partnerships, and delivering technology innovations to meet our customers’ network security and compliance needs.”
