High-Performance Toolkit Enables Secure Authentication for OEMs in VPN, 3G Networks, Storage Area Networks, Unlicensed Mobile Access and Wireless LAN Markets.

BALTIMORE, Maryland, March 29, 2005 – SafeNet, Inc., setting the standard for information security, today announced the availability of QuickSec IKEv2 Toolkit, a flexible solution for OEM vendors to integrate the IKEv2 authentication protocol into advanced networking solutions. The first standalone IKEv2 toolkit specifically designed for high performance and reliability, SafeNet´s QuickSec IKEv2 Toolkit provides OEM developers the fastest, most reliable, and most secure IPSec authentication solution at a fraction of the cost and time needed for in-house designs.

The IKEv2 specification facilitates the interoperability of IPSec virtual private networks (VPNs), allowing secure communications channels to be set up across potentially insecure infrastructures. Remarkably, the IKEv2 authentication system is so well regarded that it has been adopted in broader technology standards, including:

* The next generation of IPSec VPNs as defined by the IETF Security Group

* 3G core network backbone security, as mandated by the 3GPP

* Fibre Channel Storage Area Networking security

* Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) Services for GSM, GPRS over WiFi, Bluetooth and other unlicensed spectrum

* Roaming solutions between 3G networks and Wireless Local Area Networks

“Our business partners and telecom customers demand maximum reliability, high performance, and absolute standards compliance, which is why we have turned to SafeNet for IKEv2 authentication,” said John Vestberg, CTO and Vice President of Technology at Clavister, a leading developer of high-performance IT/IP security. “The adoption of new technology requires close co-operation with the vendor and SafeNet´s professional development team has helped us significantly in building our UMA gateway solution on top of the QuickSec security platform.”

Recently adopted by the Internet Engineering Task Force as a new standard for IPSec Authentication, IKEv2 offers important security improvements, and greater security functionality over the initial IKE standard. SafeNet´s QuickSec IKEv2 Toolkit makes all these improvements available to OEM developers, including:

* Smaller protocol overhead,

* Flexible support for remote access,

* Integrated IP address allocation,

* Support for Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) integration,

* Authentication against RADIUS servers,

* built-in Dead Peer Detertion (DPD), and,

* Enhanced support for re-keying.

Tero Kivinen, a leading expert on IPSec security, contributing author of the IKEv2 standard, and SafeNet´s lead architect of the QuickSec IKEv2 toolkit, said, “SafeNet´s security expertise and participation in the IETF standard body ensures that QuickSec IKEv2 Toolkit provides an IETF compliant, high-quality IKEv2 solution and our recent participation in ICSA Labs IKEv2 Interoperability tests have proven our confidence in the quality of our products.”

“SafeNet´s QuickSec IKEv2 Toolkit provides a unique solution for OEM vendors looking to integrate advanced IKEv2 authentication into new or existing networking devices,” said Henk Pruim, Vice President and General Manager of SafeNet´s OEM/Networking Business Unit. “This is the first IKEv2 toolkit in the market that is specifically designed for the high performance and high reliability requirements of the telecommunications industry, Fibre Channel storage area networks, and Unlicensed Mobile Access systems.”

Complementing the QuickSec IKEv2 Toolkit, SafeNet also announced QuickSec for Telecom, the first high-performance IPSec security solution for telecommunications equipment manufacturers to protect 3G network infrastructure and secure VoIP networks with a strong, standards-based security solution.

QuickSec IKEv2 Toolkit is a key component of SafeNet´s fully integrated security systems for VPN, Firewall, and Intrusion Prevention appliances. SafeNet offers OEMs a wide range of product choices to build advanced networking solutions, including intellectual property and chips for hardware acceleration as well as upper layer APIs, protocol stacks, and software toolkits.
