ForeScout Selects PatchLink to Deliver Advanced Network Access Policy Enforcement

By | December 14, 2006

Enterprises are increasingly required to enable access to corporate applications and data from unmanaged devices used by business partners, suppliers, mobile workers and guests which bypass traditional network safeguards and can introduce vulnerabilities.

To this end, PatchLink® Corporation, the leading enterprise security patch and vulnerability management solutions provider, has partnered with ForeScout Technologies®, a leading provider of clientless Network Access Control (NAC) and intrusion prevention solutions, to provide customers with a fully integrated system for enforcing enterprise security policies at both the network and endpoint level.

ForeScout’s CounterACT™ network security appliance provides an innovative NAC approach by scanning for vulnerabilities transparently to the user, without requiring an agent and using signature-based intrusion prevention to block threats. By integrating with PatchLink’s award-winning remediation solution, PatchLink Update™, organisations will now be able to validate patch updates and automatically remediate vulnerabilities to ensure all devices are secure and fully compliant before getting access to the network.

“As the network access control market develops, companies that are looking to implement the full NAC lifecycle will need to simplify the mitigation process,” said Lawrence Orans, Research Director at Gartner. “Ideally, mitigation should be controlled and implemented by the software distribution, patch management and configuration management policies. Users should be empowered with a set of tools and processes that enable self-sufficient mitigation, thereby minimising the burden on the help desk and keeping overall maintenance and operations costs low.”

“PatchLink’s market leadership and expertise in developing a high quality patch management product is the perfect companion to ForeScout’s unique ability to maintain business continuity while scanning, blocking threats, and ensuring that policy enforcement measures fit each infraction appropriately,” said Ray Wizbowski, associate vice president of marketing. “The combined capabilities of our products will ensure that security compliance is always enforced while productivity is maintained.”

“ForeScout is a strong addition to the PatchLink Technology Partner Program,” said Suzanne Swanson, senior vice president of business development at PatchLink Corporation. “While ‘scan and block’ has been the focus of network access control (NAC) vendors, ForeScout is providing a comprehensive solution to customers by bringing advanced remediation capabilities into their NAC solution.”

“In conjunction with ForeScout’s virtual firewall that ensures maximum uptime and business availability, customers can now rely on PatchLink’s technology to verify that the most up-to-date patches have been applied and all endpoints are in compliance with patch management policies,” Swanson continued.
