Check Point Addresses Security Complexity with New Products Focused On Unified Threat Management and high performance

By | May 9, 2006

Check Point Software Technologies Ltd., the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today advanced its flagship VPN-1 brand of network security solutions by releasing two new product lines focused on Unified Threat Management (UTM) and High Performance security.

VPN-1 UTM — a unified threat management solution that scales for enterprises of all sizes — and VPN-1 Power — for customers that need high-performance security to deal with today№s performance-sensitive applications — are designed to provide customers with security that is proactive, manageable, scalable and simple to use.

“Enterprises are struggling to keep security up to date while managing more and more information channelled through the Internet,” said Ken Fitzpatrick, chief marketing officer for Check Point Software Technologies. “Our VPN-1 products are ideal for customers who need either the simplicity of an all-in-one solution or the power and performance of a high-end security solution. No matter what our customers needs are, they are able to receive the added benefit of a security solution that is centrally managed whether it is a standalone solution for a branch office or a multi-layer security solution that spans the enterprise.”

As the Internet continues to be of critical importance to business operations and the rise of threats and frequency of attacks persist, companies are evaluating their security infrastructure and determining that scalable security is a must. The networks that enterprises manage are increasingly complex with higher transmission speeds, more communication protocols, and more users. In addition, the impact on IT operations has forced IT departments to focus on reducing increased risk and higher operating costs while addressing greater performance requirements. With Check Point№s VPN-1 UTM product line, customers can realise the benefits of unified security whether they deploy an all-in-one UTM gateway or a distributed, enterprise-wide security infrastructure. Additionally, customers taking advantage of VPN-1 Power can get up to a 400 percent-plus increase in performance versus non-accelerated security.

“Today we face new threats, protocols, and network complexity,” said Greg Young, research vice president, Gartner. іReducing security complexity is a goal. Adding on additional consoles and management overhead are huge hits on total cost of ownership (TCO).”

Simple, Powerful Security

VPN-1 UTM gateways are the first to marry the simplicity of unified threat management with the highly evolved security found in Check Point solutions.

As customers scale out their security, it is simple for them to add more capabilities to VPN-1 UTM. Going beyond firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, and antivirus, VPN-1 UTM includes SSL VPN, Web application firewall, host checking and more. VPN-1 UTM examines more than 150 predefined applications, services, and protocols, ensuring that the vast majority of applications used by businesses are free of threats when entering the network. Examples include VoIP, Instant Messaging and P2P applications. Additionally, VPN-1 UTM delivers both IPSec and SSL VPN functionality to provide a simple and flexible way to connect remote sites and users.

Accelerated Security

VPN-1 Power gateways enable companies to accelerate security performance without needing to repurchase their security solution. VPN-1 Power features integrated firewall, VPN, and intrusion prevention technologies along with patented SecureXL acceleration technologies that provide robust security and secure remote connectivity for information-intensive enterprises with demanding performance requirements.

Choice Software UTM or Appliance UTM

Check Point is the only company in the market today that is providing customers a choice software or an appliance UTM solution. Check Point№s industry-leading appliance vendors including IBM, Nokia and Crossbeam, offer a hardware solution as well. Products carrying the “Secured by Check Point” seal have been tested to guarantee integration and interoperability. Hear what a sample of Check Point№s valued hardware partners are saying about the
