BEW Global, an Information Asset Protection and Network Security solution provider, today announced that several team members, including one of the company´s senior consultants, Robert Eggebrecht, have successfully completed the only certified BS7799 Lead Auditor Certification Course in North America.
The BS7799 standard, which has officially become the ISO 27001 standard, is a globally recognized framework for best practices focused on network security and data protection. The final version of this standard, released on October 15, 2005, defines the specification for an Information Security Management System (ISMS). The standard serves as an overlay for multiple information protection regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act, the EU Data Protection Directive, and many other security compliance initiatives organizations may encounter.
“In today´s rapidly expanding global security market, we bring more value to our customers by aligning our practice with a globally recognized standard for process-based Information Security Management Systems,” said Robert Eggebrecht, Senior Partner of BEW Global. “Our clients are facing enormous challenges in information asset protection, driven both by industry and government regulations. In addition, a new breed of criminals is leveraging targeted attacks from external positions, or more commonly, the trusted insider is exposing organizations to substantial information security risk.”
BEW Global has mapped its data protection services against the ISO 27001 ISMS standard, resulting in a best-practice umbrella for organizations implementing information security and compliance systems and controls to address multiple regulations.
The BS7799 Lead Auditor Certification Course is comprised of 50 hours of classroom hours, and a certification exam. Having successfully completed the certification exam, the BEW Global consultants will now work as provisional BS7799 auditors, spending the next two years working toward their Lead Auditor qualification under the guidance of experienced BS7799 Lead Auditors. The apprenticeship period will be spent working on the auditing, planning and implementation of Information Security Management System (ISMS) projects built around the BS7799/ISO27001 standard.
