RSA Conference — Leading SSL VPN product company Aventail Corporation today announced it is collaborating with 3Com´s TippingPoint division to integrate its End Point Control with TippingPoint´s new Quarantine Protection solution. Quarantine Protection is the fundamental building block of a complete end point security strategy for client protection and remediation, leveraging network infrastructure to isolate infected devices.
Aventail´s SSL VPN technology ensures that only authorized people and devices get access to network resources. Together, 3Com TippingPoint´s Quarantine Protection and the Aventail SSL VPN provide a complete, secure end-to-end strategy for protecting corporate data and applications.
“It´s vital that ´best of breeds´ work together to establish end-to-end manageability across their products, in order to compete against larger companies and to deliver more integrated, easy to manage solutions to their customers,” said Zeus Kerravala, vice president of research, Yankee Group. “So, it´s a smart move for both TippingPoint and Aventail to encompass a broader access control strategy and to integrate with other critical technologies.”
Aventail´s policy-based End Point Control fits ideally with TippingPoint´s Quarantine Protection, as it allows network administrators to set granular access controls via the Aventail SSL VPN based on user identity and the security of the end device. Consistent with 3Com´s and TippingPoint´s support of interoperability and heterogeneous networking environments, Aventail´s End Point Control framework is built on an open architectural model, ensuring that the Aventail SSL VPN easily and seamlessly interoperates with other security technologies.
