Aepona, the leading supplier of service network products and solutions to telecoms operators, today announced the expansion of its sales and marketing organisation into the rapidly-growing Indian market and the appointment of Suhdir Loomba as its sales director for the region.

Aepona has had considerable success in Europe, North America and South East Asia over the past five years with sales to tier one operators such as France Telecom / Orange Group, Sprint, KPN, Vimpelcom, Eircom and Bridge Mobile Alliance. The company now plans to continue that success in the vibrant and fast-growing Indian market. In addition, Aepona is seeking to establish links with Indian software companies that can help the company leverage its success by bringing innovative new telecoms applications to the market.

“I am very excited to be joining Aepona at this phase of the company´s growth”, said Sudhir Loomba, regional sales director, who joins Aepona from Bharti Telesoft and has over 15 years of experience in Sales and Business Development in the telecommunications, IT and Internet industries in India. “Aepona is already at an advanced stage of discussions with several major network operators in India and the company is confident of seeing live deployments of its platform within a few months. My role will be to build on early successes and establish Aepona as the leading supplier of service network products and solutions in the Indian market, working directly with operators as well as through partners.”

“India is one of the most exciting telecommunications markets in the world today,” said Michael Crossey, Aepona´s vice president of marketing. “Mobile operators have seen massive subscriber growth over the past few years, and this growth is set to continue at an unprecedented pace. At the same time, however, price competition in India is intense, and operators are looking to offset declining average revenue per user by introducing new valued-added services to their subscribers, whether they are consumers or business customers. This is the problem that Aepona´s solution addresses directly, and this is also where we see an opportunity to work with Indian application vendors in bringing some of these new services to market.”

To mark its Indian launch, Aepona hosted a seminar entitled “The Service Network” for network operators, partners, media and analysts at the Grand Intercontinental Hotel, New Delhi, India on Friday 22nd September.
